Funeral services for Duane Gisi, 67, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Family Worship Center in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM Sunday at the church. Duane passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Duane Peter Gisi was born on May 7, 1956, in McPherson County to Benedict and Magdalena Gisi of Hosmer, South Dakota. He had one brother and six sisters who all worked on the Family Farm. He attended Hosmer School and graduated from there. His brother and sisters moved away, but Duane stayed on his farm with his parents. His mother passed away in 2005. His father passed away in 2010. Duane went to work for other farmers including Vilhauer Sales and also helped many friends. Later, he went to work for Gary Ulmer and his tree service, he cut trees for nine years.
Duane met Carmen back in 1976 and they dated for a year. They ended up on separate paths but met again 35 years later. They got married on July 20, 2013. They had moved to Mobridge and bought and ran PAWS Boarding and Grooming.
They both had so much in common such as their love for dogs, horses, traveling; including two cruises, several trips to Las Vegas to see Americas Got Talent, trips to Texas, Washington, and Arizona. Duane’s favorite place to see was Medora, North Dakota.
Duane’s hobbies were watching the old western shows, collecting tractors and he loved being outdoors, where he would walk 10-15 miles a day working with boarders and horses. He loved spending time with his family and loved his hundreds of clients and people in general.
Duane is survived by his wife Carmen Gisi, brother, Rocky (Helen) Gisi of Bowdle, SD, Angie (Kenny) Dais of Lebanon, Mo, Donna Cordle (Gisi) of Columbus, OH, Ardella (Wayne) Theunissen, Sr. of Groton, SD, Rudi (Randy) Rosengarten of Austin, TX, Rita Scherr (Gisi) of Ipswich, SD Gail (Jim) Ford of Neenah, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Duane in death by his father, Benedict on February 8, 2010, and Mother Magdalena in 2005, one brother, Donald Gisi. His father-in-law, Arthur Sandmeier and sister-in-law Valerie Sandmeier and several aunts, uncles.
