Edward “Bullnose” Zweber, 66, of Gettysburg, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Avera Gettysburg Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Gettysburg, with Pastor Jeff Adel presiding. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the church with visitation one-hour prior.
Edward Joseph Zweber Sr. was born August 20, 1956, in Redfield, South Dakota to John and Cora (Thompson) Zweber. He attended country school through the 8th grade and later earned his G.E.D. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1980.
On November 14, 1975, Ed married Cindy Spicer. They welcomed two children, Katie on January 13, 1979, and Edward Jr. on December 5, 1979.
Bullnose started working for Ida Fulkerson at the Fireside and went on to work for the Redfield State School, Emil Worm digging wells, and then Tower Systems. Later he started working at CHS in Gettysburg and dedicated 20 years until his retirement.
In his free time, Bullnose enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Ed will be remembered by his children: Katie Zweber of Gettysburg and Edward “Bud” Zweber of Dickinson, ND; mother, Cora Zweber of Gettysburg; grandchildren: DJ Long, Caleb Long, and Corbin Zweber; great grandson, Sebastian Long; siblings: Dan Zweber, Peggy (Keith) Eidam, LuAnn (Barry) Eldeen, Tim (Cheri) Zweber, Mary Zweber, Robert (Jani) Zweber, and Jamie Zweber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Zweber; wife, Cindy; sister, Colleen; grandparents: Cornelia “Granny” and George Thompson, Don F. and Margaret Zweber; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Bullnose’s arrangements.
