Mass of Christian Burial for Elenore “Ella” Mitzel, 97, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge with Fr. Bill Hamak as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 6 PM Monday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the church. Elenore passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.
Elenore “Ella” Mitzel was born on February 13, 1923, in Hague, ND, to Lorenz and Katherine (Baumgartner) Klein. Ella married Adam Mitzel on April 21, 1938 in Hague. They worked various agricultural jobs in the Hague area before moving to Aberdeen for a short period of time, then returning to Hague to farm independently. In 1947, they moved to Glenham, SD, and opened the Glenham Tavern. They built a mobile home park in 1957 and began selling mobile homes. They retired in 1982 and moved to Mobridge, SD.
Ella is remembered by her children as a great mom and grandmother. Everyone loved eating at her house. She possessed a great sense of humor and was very quick witted.
Ella is survived by her children, Helen Anderson of Mobridge, Wayne (Barbara) Mitzel of Antioch, IL, Jan (Bob) Lester of Pierre, SD, and Ron (Sandy) Mitzel of Aurora, NE, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Adam in 2001, her parents, son-in-law, Harvey Anderson, her brothers and sisters, 1 grandson and 2 great grandchildren.
