Eugene Richard Glines age 76 of McIntosh passed away suddenly November 3, 2020 at the Bowdle Hospital in Bowdle, SD from COVID complications.
The Funeral Service for family and friends will be held at 2:00pm MT Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon with Pastor Tottie Lenerville officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 to 7:00pm; and on Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on the website www.evansonjensenfuneralhome.com.
Cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date in the McIntosh Cemetery.
Eugene was born July 5, 1944 to Charles and Lena (Mattern) Glines in Mobridge, SD. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Walker, SD. He attended all twelve years of his education in McIntosh, graduating in 1962.
On November 28, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Schneider. To union four children were born, daughter Mellany, and sons, Monte, Kurtis, and Layne.
For many years Gene and his wife farmed. Gene also spent time trucking for various people in the area. He then purchased his own truck and hauled cattle to Long Prairie Pack in Minnesota. After suffering a heart attack, he gave up hauling long distance. He sold his truck to the McIntosh Elevator and hauled feed for them.
Gene was a jack of all trades. He was an excellent mechanic and he took up carpenter work, building on to their home, doing the wiring and everything involved.
His passion was camping and fishing. He loved to out fish his sons. They spent the last few summers at the Mobridge Campground.
He will be missed by his family and the grandchildren he loved so much.
Surviving family members include his wife, Theresa, McIntosh, SD; his mother, Lena Glines, Mobridge, SD; daughter, Mellany Slaton, McDonough, GA; sons, Monte (Errin) Glines, Aberdeen, SD; Kurtis Glines and friend Michelle, Dickinson, ND; Layne (Sue) Glines, Watertown, SD; grandchildren, Ashley Slaton, Morgan and Heather Glines, Courtney and Dex Gaikowski, and Matthew Glines; Great grandson, Tristan Gaikowski; sisters, Patricia Palmer, Bison, SD; Vicky (George) Coyle, Belle Fourche, SD; brothers, Tim (Kathy) Glines, Buffalo, SD; Terry (Bonnie) Glines, Watertown, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, his paternal and maternal grandparents, nephew, Tom Glines; brother-in-law, Delvin Palmer.
