Garret was born Friday, June 26, 1992 in Pierre, SD to Gary Gilbertson and Michelle Biegler. Garret attended school in Sully County until 8th grade when he moved to the Pierre School District. He went on to receive both his GED and High School Diploma from Evergreen High School in Custer, SD. He was very proud to accomplish both. From a young age his joy was making everyone around him laugh. Garret’s infectious smile could light up an entire room. Garret was brilliant and lively; he always had a new story to tell.
July 27, 2018 was a special day in Garret’s life as first son Garret Jr. was born. The first time he held Junior he had a look of pure joy. On December 8, 2018 Garret asked the love of his life, Brittany, to not only spend forever with him but accepted her son Teegan as his own for eternity. Teegan was his little shadow. He looked up to Garret as a great Dad. May 25, 2019 Garret and Brittany tied the knot. Garret was so proud to have a family of his own. August 10, 2020, they welcomed their son, Garrison. Garrison is a mini-Garret in every way. Garret was excitedly awaiting the arrival of their unborn son, Grant.
Garret worked construction and enjoyed being hands on. If there wasn’t a tool around to fit the job, he simply didn’t need it. He always found a way to get the job done. While living in the Pierre and Onida area Garret worked for Lankenau Construction of Onida. Upon moving to Kimball, Garret began working at Luke and Sons Construction and enjoyed his short time with company.
Garret is survived by his wife Brittany, their sons Teegan, Garret Jr., Garrison, and unborn son Grant, Kimball, SD; his father Gary Gilbertson, Onida, SD; his mother Michele (Matthew) Biegler, Steele, ND; sister Miranda (Anthonie) Iwan and their children, Columbus, NE; his grandmother Joddie Samuelson, Steele, SD; his grandfather Bruce Carpenter, Onida, SD; his in-laws Joe and Michelle Soulek, Kimball, SD; his uncle Marcus Herald and family, Pierre, SD; and many more aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
