Gladys Moser, 86, Aberdeen, SD, died Friday, January 26, 2024 at Nano Nagle Village, Aberdeen. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church, led by Pastor George Shaver. Pianist will be Beverly Binder and congregational hymns will be “Standing on the Promise of God”, “In Times like These”, and “When We all Get to Heaven”. Interment follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Church.
Gladys Mae Oster, daughter of Freida (Himmerich) and Edwin Oster, was born August 9, 1937 near Java, SD. She was raised on a farm 7 miles east of Java, attended rural school, and eventually earned her GED. Gladys married Dean Moser at Java on October 7, 1956. They lived in Chicago, IL the first two years of their marriage. They then returned to Java where they purchased Dean’s parent’s farm, located just east of Java. In 1962, Gladys began her career at the Selby Good Samaritan Center where she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and a Medical Aide. She retired from the Good Samaritan Center in October 2009. Dean died on January 22, 2011 and Gladys continued living in Java until November 5, 2011 when she relocated to Aberdeen. Gladys enjoyed volunteering at the Sanford Clinic in Aberdeen for 12 years. She belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Bowdle and more recently in Aberdeen. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, tending to her houseplants, and quilting. Gladys especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Gladys is survived by three sons—Greg Moser of Java, Dick (Sandi) Moser of Lennox, SD, and Kevin (Janet) Moser of Aberdeen; one brother, Floyd Oster of Poulsbo, WA; three sisters—Delores Deibert of Aberdeen, Janice Thorstenson of Selby, SD, and Vernette Jangula of Ipswich, SD; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In addition to Dean, Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Edwin, on April 25, 1977; her mother, Freida, on March 17, 1996; one brother, Lyle, on May 1, 2022; one infant brother; and one infant sister.
