PRESHO, SD – Gloria Elaine Leichtnam went to her heavenly home on November 9, 2024, at Edgewood Senior Living in Pierre, SD, at the age of 95.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Presho, SD, on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30am with internment at the Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery, Presho. The rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to the service.

Gloria Elaine Lillebo was born November 30, 1928, to Hilmer & Susie Lillebo in Presho, SD, at the home of Ida Mallet. She was raised on a farm southeast of Presho & attended country school. Upon graduation from Presho High School in 1946, she attended Springfield College for teaching. She taught at a country school northwest of Presho.

She was united in marriage to Charles John Leichtnam on October 30, 1946. They made their home on a farm north of Presho where they raised their seven children; Lonnie, Loren, Lura, Lynn, Leslie, Lesa & Leland.

She was a devout member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, & visiting with family & neighbors. She will always be remembered for giving the best & most heartfelt hugs as well as her love for cats. Her greatest joy was raising her family & later enjoying her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children; Lonnie (Darlene) Leichtnam, Sioux Falls, SD, Loren (Bev) Leichtnam, Sheridan, WY, Lura (Ken) Kohrman, Cody, WY, Lynn Leichtnam, Presho, SD, Leslie (Rita) Leichtnam, Vermillion, SD, Lesa (Bob) Patrick, Vivian, SD, Leland (Julie) Leichtnam, Wabasha, MN; fifteen grandchildren & 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Deanna Johnson, Presho, SD, Judith Cronin, Braselton, GA, brother, Rodney Lillebo, Presho, SD, and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Charles, sister Marion Brakke, brothers Harold, Edwin, & Gordon Lillebo, granddaughter Lindy Patrick & grandson Kelly Leichtnam.
