Grace Carr, 94, of Faulkton, passed into God’s arms, Monday, December 13, 2021, at Judy’s Assisted Living Center, Belle Fourche.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Thomas Sumers officiating. Burial will follow in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021, at the church.

Alice Grace Hinds was born November 1, 1927, the sixth child of Herbert and Inez (Heaton) Hinds, in Ipswich, SD. She grew up in her early years on a farm south of Ipswich. Her family then moved into Ipswich, and she graduated from Ipswich High School. She received a teaching certificate and taught in rural Faulk County.

Grace married Elmer Carr on May 25, 1950, and they lived on a farm southeast of Onaka, SD. To this union two sons were born, Darrell and Terry. They moved to Faulkton and Grace worked at the Super Value for a short time. She then worked for the Faulkton School District in the lunchroom, later becoming head cook. She fed students for over 30 years.

Not only was Grace an excellent cook, but she was also an accomplished seamstress. She sewed numerous snow queen and prom dresses. She re-upholstered couches and chairs for many people. In her retirement, Grace enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Grace is survived by her two sons: Darrell (Dianne) of Apple River, IL and Terry (Wendy) of Belle Fourche; grandchildren: Erin (Brian) Baldwin, Tony Carr, Kristi (Jason) Carranza, Andrea (Steve) Ramel, and Autumn Carr (Mike Walsh); five great grandchildren: Connor and Evan Ramel and Paige, Maddie and Noah Baldwin; one great-great grandchild, Emilio Baldwin; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Carr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; brothers: George, Dale, Paul, Allen, and John; sister, Edith Wahlen; and many sisters-in-law.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Grace’s arrangements.
