Guy Brady Longbrake entered this world on March 4th, 1974, in Pierre, South Dakota to Ronald Lee Longbrake and Carol Lynn Coleman of Mobridge, SD. He was also welcomed by his two older sisters, Ronda and Robbi.
Guy grew up in Mobridge and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1993. Growing up, he enjoyed participating in various sports such as wrestling, basketball, football, swimming, and rodeo. He enjoyed traveling around to various places with his sisters for rodeos. He was their official videographer before he started competing himself. In rodeo he participated in barrels, poles, goat tying, break away roping, calf roping, and steer riding. Guy was fortunate to have lived just across the street from one of his very best friends, Dustan Gill. Guy and Dustan made a lot of great memories together in the 35+ years they knew each other. Kay and Darrel Gill became like second parents to Guy. In school, he excelled in his studies. During his junior year, he was selected to take part in a program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, called INMED. He spent the summer in Grand Forks and returned back to Mobridge for his senior year of high school. During his senior year, he was invited by the University of Oklahoma to apply for the Headlands Program scholarship. He was one of 200 students to apply for 23 slots. He was accepted based on his ACT Scores. Guy then spent eight weeks in Traverse City, Michigan, studying mathematics, chemistry, biology, and communications skills.
On May, 30, 1998, Guy married Kimberly Goehring, his wife of 14 years. The union brought them four beautiful children. In 2000, they welcomed their first child, Nicolette. It was a year after her birth that he was one of eight chosen in the United States to attend a summer long internship in the Netherlands with General Electric. During this internship, he was able to travel throughout Europe; London, Paris, Amsterdam and Belgium. After returning, they then welcomed their second daughter, Peyton, in 2002. Two short years later, they welcomed their third and final daughter, Kennedy. In 2008, they finally came to have their one and only son, Brady. While he took pride in his studies, ultimately he was most proud of his children and loved being a father and grandfather.
Guy graduated from Black Hills State University in 2002 with his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He then went on to complete his Master’s degree in Materials Engineering and Science at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 2004. Shortly after, he accepted his first position at Bedford Industries in Worthington, MN, where his family and he resided for 7 years. In December 2010, the family packed up and made a huge move South to Sugar Hill, GA, where he worked at PolyOne Corporation for 5 years. His next career move relocated him to Marietta, OH, where he worked at Dimex, LLC. He very quickly worked his way up to Vice President. Due to the pandemic he was able to work remotely, this afforded him the opportunity to move to Bismarck, ND, and be much closer to his children and grandchildren. In 2022, he accepted a position at Continental in Norfolk, NE, where he resided until his untimely passing.
Guy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan his entire life, he loved watching football. He also enjoyed watching his children compete in sports, such as baseball and softball. He loved weight lifting, his RAM pickup, golfing, music, spending time with his children and grandchildren and whooping Brady’s butt in some 2K on the Xbox. He loved motivating Brady and his friends in the weight room to work harder and never missed getting his girls their gifts on Valentine’s Day. He was always the life of the party and the biggest jokester around. He was well-liked by many and made lifelong friends in the various places he lived. Guy also valued his religion with the Methodist Church and found comfort in God.
Guy is survived by his four children; Nicolette (Bodey Ducheneaux) Longbrake, Peyton (Dalton) Faehnrich, Kennedy Longbrake and Brady Longbrake, grandchildren; Graham and Grey Faehnrich; sisters; Ronda (Bill Trowman) Longbrake and Robbi (Daman Heitz) Longbrake, Nieces; Ashley Longbrake, Taylor Gilbert, Ryder Longbrake-Heitz and several great nieces and nephews.
