Heath Brandon LeBeau was born on July 15t, 1974 to Eva Gilbert and Greg LeBeau. His early life included his brothers Rocklyn, Gideon, and Echoe and they would be known as “The Four Brothers.” Good or bad, they were always at each other’s side, making many friends along the way.
Brandon lived the majority of his life on the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation where he attended grade school through high school in the Eagle Butte School System. Basketball found him at an early age, and he would eventually let the game consume his life. This love took him to the United Sioux Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND where he would sharpen and hone his hoopin skills to a high level. Now, a hardwood warrior, he would journey to many distant lands and claim many honors living the game he loved. His specialty was the deep set shot which was meant to bait you into playing defense deep in no-man’s land. Once you strayed from the flock, he was flying to the rim for a beautiful kill. Through the game he loved, he made a lot of friends and created a lot of great war stories that he would love to talk about for hours. He had many accolades, but his greatest takeaway was the bond that was created between him and his teammates and opponents.
While on the circuit, Brandy loved, courted the young ladies, and fathered children. He loved them all and they loved him. He worked to take care of them, whether it was finding work building bridges or managing hotels in different cities. In the last years of his life, his love was to have a beer with the ones he held dear and laugh the night away. He would often offer his home and resources to friends and family that needed shelter or resources and he would always encourage them with a few kind words. He had a famous quote, “Tighten up them cheeks!” put simply, get back to work!
Brandy is survived by his woman of 18 years, Jen Red Bear. He also is survived by his sons, Creighton and “Poo” LeBeau as well as his three daughters, Alexius, Alana, and Reegen LeBeau. His brothers are Rocklyn, Echoe Johnson, Gideon Mendoza, Hoksila White Mountain, Kyle, J.R and Michael LeBeau. His only two sisters are KayKay and Robin LeBeau, who he loved very much. Lastly, his parents Eva and Greg are natural born survivors, and they are here to mourn the loss of their beloved son. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kyla Red Bear.
A great poet once said, “If something burns your soul with purpose and desire, it’s your duty to be reduced to ashes by it. Any other form of existence will be yet another dull book in the library of life.” A dull book in the library of life was not the case in the life of Heath Brandon LeBeau. Brandon did it his way and fulfilled his destiny. Our Relative is taking his journey and stealing a big part of our hearts to the other side. We will meet again, but until then we will remember him for the rest of our lives. Mitakuye Oyasin.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Heath’s arrangements.
