Heather Kay Knight, 45, of Eagle Butte entered the spirit world, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at I.H.S. Hospital, Eagle Butte.
In compliance with the CRST Tribal Directives, a private family service will be held Friday, December 11, 2020, at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg and Knight Family Ranch, Cherry Creek. Burial will take place at the Knight Family Cemetery.
Heather Kay Knight was born on October 11, 1975 to Thomas Knight and Deanna Laundreaux at Rapid City Regional West Hospital. She has one sister Robbie Knight and one son Adam Barbosa. She was an auntie to Melkai Knight and Nature High Elk.
When she first started school, she went to school at CEB Elementary and Annie Talent in Rapid City, then she went to Robinsdale School and Knollwood Heights School through middle school. When she was a freshman, she went to school at North Jr. High School in Rapid City. She came back to Eagle Butte to go to CEB High School to finish out her freshman year, and her sophomore and junior years were at Takini High School. Heather was living with her grandparents, Jess and Edie Knight, at the time. She loved to play sports at Takini High School, like basketball, volleyball, and drill team. She was an active member in the Takini Rodeo Team. Later she finished her GED, and then she attended Job Core in Provo, Utah.
Heather enjoyed being a loving mother to her son, Adam Barbosa. She liked watching WWE Wrestling every Monday night and other T.V. shows she enjoyed. She liked traveling with her sister, Robbie, and visiting too. She babysat for other people and liked having a job at CRST Property & Supply as she worked with sister Robbie there. She loved taking care of her Grandma Edie Knight when she needed her help. When growing up she also loved to ride the horses and care for them. Grandpa Jess liked it when she would brush the horses and braid their mane to get them ready. She loved going over to Auntie Karen’s because it was over the hill. Heather also loved cats and she had a favorite she got from a nurse, Janet Long, at Takini school. She really took good care of this cat named Snowball. She would give her cat a bath and brush it and make sure she was fed. Heather was this way with all the animals she came across. When she got older she lived in Bismarck, ND and Pierre, SD and then moved back to Eagle Butte; where she lived at the Blackhawk apartments with her mother, son, and Uncle Delbert.
Heather is survived by her parents, Thomas Knight and Deanna Laundreaux; her son, Adam Barbosa; sister, Robbie Knight; niece, Nature High Elk; and nephew, Melkai Knight of Eagle Butte, SD.
Heather is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Wallace and Sarah Knight; grandpa, Jess Amos Knight; uncle, Jeff Knight; great grandparents, Joe and Amelia (Scott) Laundreaux; and grandma, Arvilla Johnson.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Heather’s arrangements.
