Services for Jason Zacher, 59, of Wessington Springs, SD, will include a community fellowship in Wessington Springs on Thursday, March 26, from 4–6 p.m. at the Springs Inn restaurant. A fellowship gathering will be held in Mobridge, SD, on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at Kesling Funeral Home. Committal services will take place on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Jason was born on May 1, 1966, in Mobridge, SD, to Walter and Cleo Zacher. He attended Mobridge High School, where he excelled in football and was named All-State in his senior year.
Following high school, Jason worked in Mobridge for a year before attending Northern State University, where he graduated in 1990 with a business degree. He then worked for Dacotah Bank in Mobridge for six years. During that time, he was actively involved in the community and numerous local organizations. Jason later moved to Aberdeen and spent 17 years as a production manager with Banner Engineering, working at their Aberdeen and Fergus Falls, MN plants.
Wanting to provide more for his daughters, Kaecie and Callie, Jason pursued business ownership. In 2013, he purchased the Humm Dinger convenience store in Wessington Springs. He remained an active member of the community and local organizations throughout his life. Jason was generous with his time, always willing to help others, and especially enjoyed cooking and sharing food with those around him. He also partnered in other business ventures with his brother, Cory, with whom he shared a close bond.
Of all his accomplishments, Jason’s greatest joy was his daughters, Kaecie and Callie. They were the center of his world and the greatest pride of his life.
Jason was known for his warm smile and friendly nature. He was always quick to lend a hand, no matter the situation, and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the Wessington Springs community.
Jason’s family and close friends will remember his love of hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time by the river—especially when Kaecie and Callie were by his side.
Jason considered many people his brothers and sisters—his ride-or-die family. While it is impossible to name everyone, the family would like to especially recognize his childhood and lifelong friend, Greg (Dori) Heil, who stood by Jason throughout his life. All of you meant more to him than words can express.
Jason is survived by his Daughters, Kaecie Zacher (special friend Dylan Anderson) of Sioux Falls/Groton, and Callie Zacher of Aberdeen; his father, Walter Zacher of Hot Springs, SD; his siblings and families: Brother – Cory (Lisa) Zacher, Isaac & Alyssa of Webster, SD; Sister – Marie (Jeff) Jackson of Mobridge, Jon (Adria) Jackson, Elizabeth (Jacob), Emilie, Abigal, Aubrey of Centennial, CO, Erica (Jeff) Frey, Alexis, Brooke (Laken) Hildebrand, Cohen of Mobridge, Amanda (Tyler) Vrbas, Piper & Nolan of Golden, CO, Jeffery (Rachel) Jackson of Lakewood, CO; Sister – Traccee (Shanda) Zacher of Kingston, OK; Brother – Bill (Brenda) Campbell, Todd (Alyssa) and family of Mina, SD; Brother – Rick (Melanie) Campbell and family of Lumberton, TX; sister-in-law Anne Campbell, Ellie of Mobridge, Clayton (Brenda) and family of Fargo. He was a proud, devoted brother & uncle.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo, and his brother, Gary.
Rest in peace, Z-man.
