Jeff was born on June 13, 1962, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Marshall and Esther (Hanson) Farries, and was the youngest brother (never the “Baby”) to Wayne Farries, Carole Farries Geis and Keith Farries. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Laura Jo “Jodi” Harabedian Farries.
Jeff attended Pierre High School and graduated in 1980. He attended Mitchell Vo-Tech and graduated with an Associate’s degree in Satellite Technology. He moved to Virginia to start working at what was the Washington International Teleport. After that, he moved on to Arqiva and then to British Telecom. In 2012, his job led him to an Atlanta suburb of Ellenwood, where he worked for Intelsat, which in 2025 became SES.
He loved travelling, attending Atlanta Braves games, visiting family and friends. Because of health reasons, he was not able to travel as much as he would have liked, but did manage to travel to Ohio and Michigan in 2024 for weddings for two of his nieces. In 2025, to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, Jeff and Jodi travelled to Niagara Falls, where they had the most amazing time. It was a trip that will always be remembered and cherished.
Jeff will always be remembered as a good and kind man. He was quiet at first, until you got to know him. He had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. He always had a smile for his friends and loved ones. He did not have a great quantity of friends, but his friends were always of the highest quality. In his later years, he was diagnosed with heart problems and later in the last 3 years of his life, with kidney problems. Despite all his health issues, he never stopped fighting and was one of the strongest people his family and friends will ever know.
He was a beloved son, brother, husband, uncle and friend. He lives in precious memories by his wife, Laura Jo “Jodi” Farries, his brothers, Wayne and Keith, his sister, Carole, family-in-law, Kenny and Renee Layne and Dale and Winna Layne, Jay and Barbara Murdock and Melody Dillon, along with many nieces and nephews. Although he may be gone, he will never be forgotten and will live in the hearts and memories of everyone who knew and loved him.
