Jerry Jones, 51, formerly of Fort Pierre, SD passed away March 9, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 11th, 2020, at 10:00am at the Lilly Park in Fort Pierre, SD. Inurnment to be held at Scotty Philip Cemetery following the memorial service.
Jerald Benson Jones was born on March 7, 1969 to Richard and Patricia Ann (Strutz) Jones in Pierre, SD joining older brother Tony and sister Wendy. Later he gained two more brothers Todd and Tim when his father Richard married Carol Butler Jones.
Jerry graduated from Stanley County High School in 1988. Jerry was a star high school athlete competing in wrestling, track, rodeo and football. He was a proud member of the 1986 SCHS High School State B Football Champions.
Jerry had a lifelong love of horses that he learned from his father. He made his living as a farrier and horse trainer working at racetracks all over the Midwest and Arizona.
In 2001, Jerry married Kim Clark and together they had four sons Austin Bryant, Paydin James, Dawsin Ray & Lawsin Michael. Jerry was proud of and close to his boys.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Ann Chaussee, son Paydin James Jones, maternal grandparents Frank and Anne Strutz, paternal grandparents Lon and Edith Jones, step-grandparents Charles and Ruth Butler.
He is survived by his parents Richard and Carol Jones, step-father Mike Chaussee, sons Austin (Tess) Ensworth, Dawsin Jones, Lawsin Jones, grandchildren Jepper, Chevelle and Tate Ensworth, sister Wendy Jones Bushmire, brothers Tony Jones, Todd Jones & Tim (Michelle) Jones, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
