Heavenly Father blessed Bevin Sr., and Cecelia (Cook) Circle Eagle with their son, Bevin Circle Eagle Jr. on July 9, 1960, born in Eagle Butte, he was the fifth child of eight.
His journey on earth began as a country child in the community of Red Scaffold. He attended Red Scaffold Day School, completing and receiving his high school diploma from Cheyenne Eagle Butte School. He went to further his higher education at Western Dakota Technical Institute and then on to UTTC, where he received a degree in Auto Body. He was part of the firefighting crew in the 1980’s. He was employed with the CRST Game, Fish & Parks.
In his younger years, he was very talented and enjoyed building plane and car models. His Leksi, Pressler Circle Eagle, carved a ship out of long log and BJ finished it with all the little details.
When he went for his walks in the hills, sometimes he would lay down for a nap and Heavenly Father would show him places where he would be traveling to. He helped his father with ranching growing up, then later on, he built his own ranch. He had a unit west of Red Scaffold, at the Circle Eagle homestead, that was passed down for four generations.
On February 16, 1984, he was blessed with his only daughter, Felicia Rose Circle Eagle. He was so proud of her and wanted her to become a lawyer so that she can take care of his business. Although she didn’t study law, she did become a licensed Registered Nurse, graduating from Highland Community College and BSN from Baker University School of Nursing (09).
When BJ began his dancing career, he started out as a traditional dancer. Soon after he switched to the fancy dance category. He traveled to many places throughout the United States and Canada. He met many friends through the Wacipi circuit. BJ also enjoyed singing with many of his friends and relatives around the drum. He created his own fancy dance outfits, including his little Brother Bobby Joe’s fancy dance outfit, and for many others who called upon him.
He was a messenger for our Heavenly Father through scriptures, dreams, visions, stories, and Words of Knowledge. He was the caretaker of Red Scaffold UCC Church and Cherry Creek cemetery. He shared his love, compassion, joy, patience, wisdom, knowledge, long suffering, and fruits of the spirit from our Heavenly Father.
In early 90’s, he worked with his Uncle Norman Roach. BJ was in charge of building the new arena for the NAHA Wacipi, which was located south of Rapid City. Going south on Mount Rushmore Road, this wacipi was easily spotted off the east side of the road. It was so beautiful to witness such a gathering in our beautiful Ȟe Sapa.
BJ was a very talented carpenter and mechanic. He enjoyed mother nature, fishing, and hunting. He was called upon to be a presenter to share his Lakota Language and Culture and history in various schools. He provided for his family and all those that were in need. He attended Hills Alive in Rapid City, sharing Lynn Huber’s words. He will be missed, having lots of stories and talks, loving his passion and genuine friendship.
