Funeral services for Kevin Mark One Horn Sr., 61, of Cannonball will be at 11 AM, Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Cannonball Red Gym. Burial will be at St. James Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. An all night wake will be Wednesday with a procession at 4 PM from Kesling Funeral Home and services at 7 PM. Kevin passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, at his home in Cannonball.
Kevin Mark One Horn Sr., was born April 3, 1960, in Ft. Yates, ND, to Lucas and Selma (Two Bear) One Horn. He was raised and educated in Cannonball, ND. He attended Solen High School and received his G.E.D. He went into the Army for a couple years. When he returned home, he attended UTTC, where he graduated with a certificate in auto mechanics. Kevin met Lori in 1991. They moved to Solen, ND, where he worked as a laborer for many residents. He was a ranch hand for Ivan and Susan Kary and also worked for Joe Berger. He was present when “Little Yellow Jacket” was born. They moved back to Cannonball and got married in 1996. Kevin loved spending time with his friends at Kelly’s Bar and was known for his dancing to the song “Cotton-Eyed Joe”. Kevin worked various jobs. He was a cook for Prairie Knights Casino, Cannonball Security, and the T.W.E.P. Program for many years. He also volunteered for the Cannonball School. He met may amazing people who he took as family. He was especially fond of his “brother from another mother” Todd Hanson, his “sonny boy” Michael Sorlie and his good friend Steve Folmer. Kevin was a hard worker and always tried his best at anything he did. Even after his accident in 2009. Cannonball was never the same, but Kevin still helped however he could. He was a selfless man and never said no. He always helped anyone in need and gave what he had even if it was his last. He loved his children very much and they always came first. He also loved all children; they always came to him when they needed someone. He had many adopted children that he loved like his own. He enjoyed spending time with his two grandkids, Honey and Zacaius, whom he loved and cherished, they were his world, and he would do anything for them. Kevin had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. He was always making people laugh. One of his favorite things to do was to be on Facebook. He was known for his good morning posts and teasing with his friends, especially Chucky Lester. He also enjoyed sitting outside with his cup of coffee, waving at anyone who went by. Kevin was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Lori One Horn, Cannonball; five daughters, Heather, Shawna, and Sherrie One Horn, all of Cannonball, Angel (Jeffrey) Grisham, Wyoming, Shaun (George) Fool Bear, Bismarck; four sons, Allen One Horn, Cannonball, Steven One Horn, South Dakota, Lucas One Horn, Montana, Kevin One Horn Jr., Montana; two stepsons, KC Hollow and Scott Red Bear, both of Cannonball and his adopted son Channing Swimmer.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas, and Selma (Two Bear) One Horn; one son, Michael One Horn; his grandma Dora Two Bear and other family members whom he missed very much.
