Kyann Marie White Owl was born March 31, 2005, to Theresa Ortley and Kyle White Owl Sr. Kyann attended school at Rock Creek Grant School, Timberlake Public School, Mandan Public School, and had attended the Adult Learning Center located at Bismarck State College for her GED. Kyann planned to attend Job Corp in Texas, then continue her education through Job Corp for her CNA in California.
Growing up Kyann loved riding horses, going for late night walks, swimming and whirl in pool or attending events like the carnivals. She loved sightseeing and traveling to new places. Kyann loved Juicy Contour, Victoria Secret/Pink. She loved doing her makeup, fixing and/or coloring her hair. So girly, but Kyann would dress for comfort. She loved mom jeans, though she would much rather wear a pair of comfortable sweats. Her favorite colors were royal blue and pink. Kyann was a very brave but sweet girl. She would bring out a different side of people, a more daring and adventurous side. Though her time with us was far too short, her vibrant energy will never be forgotten.
Kyann was loved and cared for by her family, friends, relatives, especially by her adopted mom Jessica Byington, mother-in-law Brit Rough Surface, and her aunty Tracey Long. Kyann holds a special place in all of our hearts; most especially her mini me, her baby girl, Arianna Maria.
Kyann is survived by her daughter, Arianna Maria; her daughter’s father, Hoksila Running Bear; siblings: Kyle White Owl Jr., Darren Seigfried, Ariana Marshall, Shaylene Cetan Iyanka, Kayleigh White Owl, Anthony White Owl, and Alexander White Owl; maternal grandparents: Gary Ortley and Leatrice Hollow; paternal grandparents: Velma LaFramBoise and Anthony “Tony” White Owl Sr.; and numerous relatives: grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, and her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Kyann was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Ortley; father, Kyle White Owl Sr.; aunt, Lakota Antelope; uncles: Gary Ortley Jr. and Anthony White Owl Jr.; and cousin, Cale Bendickson.
Rest in roses, Kyann Marie White Owl.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Kyann’s arrangements.
