PIERRE, SD – LaMoine Lane Engbrecht, 66, of Pierre, SD passed away at his home in Pierre on Friday, March 21, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, March 27,2025 at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre with a time for sharing to start at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre.
LaMoine Lane Engbrecht, born on March 27, 1958, to Alvin and Evangeline Engbrecht in Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at his home. He spent his early years at Ben Franklin School in Sioux Falls before moving with his family to Vermillion, SD, where he completed his education, graduating from high school in 1976.
After high school, LaMoine worked as a carpenter for Ray Lee Construction and then joined NWB Telephone Company in 1978. On August 13, 1983, he married Karen Krogman at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre, SD. They were blessed with two sons, Adam Lane Engbrecht and Zachary Thomas Engbrecht.
The family resided in Brandon, SD, before moving to Pierre, SD, in 1990. LaMoine continued his career in telecommunications, working as a cable splicer for US West until retiring in 2020. His passion for the craft led him to continue splicing with his son Adam at LaMoine’s Splicing until 2024.
An avid outdoorsman, LaMoine cherished every chance to hunt and fish. He was also fond of playing cribbage and spent countless hours in his reloading room. However, his greatest joy was his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
LaMoine is survived by his sons Adam (Allison) Engbrecht and Zachary (Taryn) Engbrecht, both of Pierre, SD; five grandchildren: Ryan Alexander, Mila Engbrecht, Adley Engbrecht, Brogan Engbrecht, and Colson Engbrecht; his brother, Orrin (Jenny) Engbrecht of Dell Rapids, SD; nephews Morgan (Shelby) Engbrecht and Wyatt Engbrecht; and niece Marie (Brandon) Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Evangeline Engbrecht.
