Larry Gene Anderson was born June 16, 1941, to Norman and Evelyn (Dean) Anderson on the homestead near Lowry, South Dakota. He also attended school here.
Larry met his sweetheart when he was 18 years old. They married March 20, 1960, in Mobridge. They started their life together working for rural farmers, then in 1962 they began traveling with road construction crews until 1966, when they moved to Rapid City. While there, he enjoyed raising his children and supporting his wife. In 1968, they took over his family farm in Lowry. There, he spent his days milking cows, ranching, breaking horses and farming. Larry and Bev were blessed with three children, Douglas (Deann), Debra (Mark) and Delaine (Phil). He has held many roles throughout his life; husband, best friend, loving father, veterinarian, and cowboy, working side by side with Bev.
Larry loved to deer hunt, goose and pheasant hunt and fish. He always loved it when all the kids, grandkids and extended family would come home to hunt followed by late night games of Buck Euchre. He loved and cherished his family. He was a friend to all and was never too busy to help a friend or neighbor with their ranching and farming needs. He loved to tell stories, most true, but oh how he could spin tales.
In 2000, Larry and Bev retired to Mobridge. In the summer months he enjoyed taking care of his lawn and woodworking. During the winter months, they escaped the cold to Texas where he enjoyed taking bus tours to Mexico, shooting pool, attending potlucks and jam sessions. Larry made wonderful life-long friends in Texas.
Larry will be dearly missed by all he had the pleasure of knowing and loving. He leaves behind his three children – son, Doug and his wife Deann, and their three children, Vanessa, Brandon (Barbara) and their children, Amanda (Dave), Steven (Lydia) and their daughter Ayda, Douglas (Barbara) and their daughter, Autumn; daughter, Deb and her husband Mark, and their four children, Lindsy (Ryan) and their children Carsen, Wyatt, and Katie, Jared (Miranda) and their children, Brody and Charlotte, Casey (Samantha) and their children Braxton, Colt, and Tycen, and Kendsy; and daughter Delaine and her husband Phil and their seven children, Brittany (Matt) and their children Noah and a baby girl on the way, Morgan and her children Izzebelle and Roman, Doug (Rose) and their children Liam and Cian, Devon (Wyatt) and their children Brielle and Maggie, Hailey (Landon) and their daughter, Nova, Alexandria (Tom) and their children Kynleigh and Kooper, and Nicholas; and his sisters Linda and Noreen.
