Lisa Fayette Condon was born on October 30, 1969, in Eagle Butte, SD to Faye (Flying By) and Chester Condon. She spent her childhood years in the community of Cherry Creek. Lise, as she was known to many, was the “baby” of her sisters, and all of her cousins that had grown up in Cherry Creek. They spent lots of time together, always entertaining themselves with building forts, talent shows, sledding in the winter and going swimming in the summertime. Lisa was always outspoken, she was funny, loved to laugh and joke and kept her humor right up until her final days. In her teen years, she was a “fast pitcher,” playing fastpitch, and she was a tomboy, sporting her wrangler jeans. She had a long thick braid that went down to her waist. As the family grew, they moved to Eagle Butte, SD.
Lisa had five children: sons, Ryan Lee, Dustin, Cameron, Joseph and a baby son, Dayton, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Ashlee. She lived in Bismarck, ND then Sioux Falls, SD for a short time, then back to Bismarck she went, with her daughter Ashlee and her youngest son Cameron, who was always by her side. She had returned to Cheyenne River in recent years. Lisa worked for the CRST Environmental Protection Department for several years as an Environmental Technician, she enjoyed working in the tribal service and made many lifelong friends. There was never a dull moment when you were around Lise, she also had a serious side and was always determined to finish things she started. She also worked for CRST Bingo Operations. She made friends easily and after telling her some good news or something exciting, you could always hear her say, “Oh, right on!”
Lisa had completed her GED then attended United Tribes Technical College where she graduated with an associate degree in business management. She loved her kids and grandkids very much. She was so heartbroken when she lost her son, Cameron Ward Condon. She was very close to Cam, and he went with her everywhere, always helping her with her grandson, Dace, who she raised, he was her little right-hand man. Lisa would spend a lot of time on the phone, calling people or taking calls, and when her health began to fail, she depended on those calls so much and always had her faithful callers to keep her going when she wanted to give up. She was in and out of the hospital and would always bounce back health wise, so it was a surprise to all when she wasn’t able to come back this last time.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, Ashlee (Wacy Weeks) and children, Angel, LaReina and Baby Chet of Billings, MT, son, Ryan Lee Marrowbone (Kayla) and children Kylie and Treyson, of Bear Creek, son, Dustin Condon and son Dace, of Eagle Butte, son, Joseph Condon (Lillian) and newborn daughter Monroe, of Eagle Butte. Lisa didn’t have any brothers of her own but her cousin, Nathan “Big Nate” Benoist was always special to her and the nearest to having her own brother. She is also survived by her sisters, Lynette (Murphy Runs After) and family of Eagle Butte and Pierre, SD, Laudine Condon and family of Utah, Holly Condon and son Kayson Dean, of Eagle Butte, Monique (Garr Tavai-Fiatoa) and sons Reuben, Blake and Baby Garr of Bear Creek; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; uncles, Wilbur Flying By, Sr. and Russell Benoist, who she affectionately called “Big Foot”; aunt, Menoda Flying By and family of Rapid City; grandmothers, Betty Handley and family of Rapid City and Clarice Miner and family of Eagle Butte.
