PIERRE, SD –
Lorraine Tople, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 28th, 2023 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 5th at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre with a visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place on a later date at the Homer Cemetery near Pierpont, SD. For those unable to attend the funeral service it will be live streamed on the link below.
Lorraine Holler, daughter of George and Rose (Emmens) Holler was born on January 19th, 1929 in Andover, SD. She went on to attend school in the Pierpont area and graduated from Pierpont High school.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Emil Tople on September 5th, 1947 in Pierpont, where they farmed until moving to Aberdeen six years later. After 2 years in Aberdeen, the family moved to Blunt in 1956. In 1967, Lorraine and Emil with their 4 children moved to Fort Pierre. The family then made their home in Pierre where she was employed at Buhl’s Laundry. Lorraine’s husband Emil passed away in 1980.
Grateful for having shared in Lorraine’s life are her children, Terry (Sue), Faye (Roger), Steve (Teena), and Renee (Rick), 8 Grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Lorraine was a member of Faith Lutheran church for many decades. Faith was important in her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed puzzles (750 pieces or less), reading books, sending birthday cards to her grandchildren with Dimes, Nickels, and Pennies taped inside, attending the Tople Reunions, type writing notes to her family, and spending time with her beloved family. Lorraine was fond of taking pictures of her family and put together many photo albums. She especially loved spending time with Luella and her friend Shirley. They took joy in their fun nights at the casino.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Emil, daughter Faye, daughter in law Teena, sister Berniece, 3 brothers Howard, Orville, and Merrill.
