Funeral services for Mary E. Mick, of Kennebec, SD will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kennebec, SD with burial in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at Kennebec, SD. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. with a scripture/rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kennebec, SD.
Mary Elizabeth Milnar was born May 22, 1937 to Frank and Elizabeth (Jacoby) Milnar. She attended school in Kennebec and graduated from Kennebec High School in 1957. After high school, Mary worked for the local phone company and later at the Lyman County Courthouse.
On September 23, 1967, Mary was united in marriage to Arnold M. Mick at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Kennebec. To this union four children were born Rodney, Melinda, Gregory, and Monica. Mary provided childcare to many children in the area for many years.
After the death of her husband, Mary remained in Kennebec until September of 2016 when she made her home at the Prairie View Assisted Living in Kimball and just recently became a resident of the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved playing bingo and doing word search puzzles.
She faithfully attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was a member of St. Michael’s Altar Society in Kennebec, SD.
Mary passed away on March 16, 2023 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD at the age of 85 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her two sons Rodney Mick of Kennebec, SD and Gregory (Kayla) Mick of Lewisville, TX; two daughters Melinda (Donnie) McManus of Reliance, SD and Monica (Troy) Swanson of Pukwana, SD; 12 grandchildren Bria, Koen, and Lara Mick; Liam, Brady (fiancé Kateri), Katie, Allison, and Rory McManus; Mallory, Miles, Cade, and Aiden Swanson; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Arnold, and two brothers George and Francis.
