On May 28, 2022, Mary (Auch) Hiller, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Mary will be missed dearly by her family and many friends.
Memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2nd at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre, with inurnment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. For those unable to attend the memorial service it can be viewed on this page the day of the services.
Mary was born April 2, 1937 to Herbert and Kathryn (Buechler) Auch. She grew up in Harrold, SD, along with her brother Bob, and two sisters, Charlotte (Roy) Hiller and Marsha (Glenn) Priebe. She graduated from Harrold High School in 1955.
Mary and Chet were united in marriage September 14, 1957 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onida, where they started their life together. In 1969, they were blessed with a son, Allen; he was Mary’s most pride and joy. After Allen’s graduation from high school, they moved to Pierre where they made their home until the time of her death.
She was a true child of God and had a deep love for her faith and church. As a dedicated member of the LWML, she gave selflessly to all and was always ready to serve when called upon.
Mary was always ready to go, oh how she enjoyed life! She lived and loved life to the fullest, always sharing her smile and warmth with everyone she met. Through the years, her relationships have grown and kept them all close to her heart. Mary was blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family.
Mary is survived by her son Allen and his wife Zoe, two granddaughters, Makayla (Zack) Van Vuuren; Tara Hiller, bonus grandkids, Tomlynn (Jesse) Baker; Jennifer Jones; and Kenean Johnson, and her 6 great- grandkids, two loving sisters, Charlotte and Marsha, and sister-in-law Lorraine.
Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and daughter-in-law Lisa.
