Funeral services for Mavis Little Eagle, 78, of Bullhead will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Mavis Little Eagle Residence. Burial will be at the Pine Little Eagle Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A procession will leave Kesling Funeral Home at 8 AM to her residence. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM. Mavis passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Monument Health in Rapid City.

Mavis Pearl Little Eagle was born on December 7, 1945, in Bullhead, SD, to Isaac Red Bear and Grace Brown Otter. She grew up in Bullhead, SD. She attended Bullhead Day School until 8th grade and then went to stay in the dorms and finish school until 10th grade at Ft. Yates High School. She finished her GED at Standing Rock College in 1972. She moved to Denver, CO, in 1970-1971. She then moved to Isabel, SD, in 1971-1984. She lived in Spring Field, SD in 1986, Solen in 1987-1988 and moved back to Rock Creek where she worked as a cook in McLaughlin and Rock Creek.

She met Reno C. Mutchler and they married in 1963 and in this union, they had Wilbur, Melbert “Bill”, Brenda, William “Ernie” and Adrienne. After retiring she loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mavis is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Tim) Harper, Adrienne Mutchler, her sons, Melbert (Melinda) Mutchler, William (Carletta) Mutchler, son, Matthew who was adopted out after birth, hunka son, Ronald Thomey from Michigan, brother, Leon Brown Otter Sr., cousins, Elizabeth, Pearl, Richard Charging Eagle, Grandma, Anna Mae Steele, 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Red Bear and Grace (Steele) Brown Otter, siblings, Oley Red Bear Sr., Rolland Brown Otter Sr., Fern Lutz, Milton Brown Otter, children, Paula Big Horn and Wilbur Mutchler, grandson, Heype Weasel, late husband, Oley Little Eagle, baby daddy, Reno Mutchler.
