Nancy Little Shield, 38, of Cherry Creek, passed away Monday, June 1, 2021, at her home in Cherry Creek.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. MDT, Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Cherry Creek Blue Gym, Cherry Creek, SD. Burial will follow in the Congregational Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the gym, with a procession from the 2-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Nancy Marie Little Shield was born on March 5, 1983 to June Little Shield and Byron Flying By. Nancy grew up in Cherry Creek and attended school in Takini. One of Nancy’s pastimes was being Cherry Creek Princess during the Cherry Creek Wacipi, she was a jingle dress dancer. Also getting in on the Hat N Boot Specials during the Naca Wacipi, and the New Year’s Masquerade. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She also enjoyed being around her family and friends. One of Nancy’s hobbies was making hand sewn star quilt bags. In the Summer of 2001, she went with her Lala Kenny Cane and the American Indian Movement while they were going state to state trying to bring awareness to the people about the oil pipelines.
In 2004, she met Valdin Kills Small of Wakpala, SD and a year later, she had her first daughter Kiara Paige Kills Small.
In 2009, she met Norris Widow Sr., a year later she then had her son Payden Drew Widow. Nancy and Norris were married in 2011, and they had Andee Sue and Norris Jr. Widow. Nancy lived her life with her kids and enjoyed visiting with people whom she crossed paths with. Nancy had a way of making people laugh. Her laughter, smile, shiny caps and her “craziness” will be greatly missed.
