Nancy Joette Village Center Glenn, 69, Fort Yates, ND. Passed away Oct 16, 2022 in Mandan, ND. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (200 Oahe St, Fort Yates) with visitation prior starting at 10 A.M. Burial will be in the Reed Cemetery in Fort Yates.
Nancy was born March 26, 1953 in Fort Yates to Carl Silas Village Center and Viola Sharon Crow Necklace Witte in Fort Yates. She attended the Pierre Indian School in Pierre, SD from the 1st to the 8th grades. At the age of 14 she was put in the Indian Placement Program and spent 4 years in Soda Springs, ID with Mr. and Mrs. Rhea Godfrey. After high school graduation she worked for a while in Albuquerque, NM eventually find her way back to Fort Yates. She also lived in Bremerton WA for years. She received her AAS Degree in Business from Standing Rock College in 1983. She worked many years for and with the Standing Rock Tribe.
She is survived by her sons Thomas J LaFramboise of Salt Lake City, UT and Louis Village Center of Fort Yates, she leaves behind many other family members, her sisters Gwen See The Elk and Olena Village Center; Chinksila: John and Luther Rodriguez, Scott Ell, Vance (Julie), Sonny, and Hunter Giroux, Anthony Lewis, and Paul Bear Ribs. Chunksila: Victoria (Jon) Birdshead, Leaf (Raph) Giroux, Seneca Village Center, Mary Rodriguez, Chantelle Giroux, Sage (Mark) Grey Day, Berniece and Patty Soft. Takoja: Izrael Makai and Izaak Lyle Laframboise, Taneille, Tamarik, Courtney and Samual Lewis, Alex Fox, Terrell and Chelsea Elk, Jacob, Isabel, and Savanna Thunderhawk, Christian, Austin, Allison, Tristan, and Camry Giroux, Sheyenne Ell, Jonathan and Lakota Russell, Sierra Giroux, Hunter Jr and Lala Giroux, Kenzlee and Brandt Dwarf, Ohitika, Wanikiya, and Woksape Locke, Sunny Dupris, Jaylin, Chance, and Aries Bear Ribs, Xandriah, Natessa, and Faye Marie Martin, Shawn, Stephan, Ellis Tikanye, Tylan, Tyson, Harmony, Kyrie and Brynnleigh Giroux, Serenaly, Brayleigh, and Kaisyn Giroux, Waniyetu, Sakowin, and Dakota Wynde, Christopher and Joshua Ell. She was preceded in death by: her father, mother, son Preston Village Center, sisters Judy Village Center, Alice Merle Grey Day, Faye Marie Crow Necklace, brother Frank Witte, nephews Samuel D. Ell, Dean, Dennis, and Duane “Ted” Soft, Corey Lewis; nieces Bonita Rodriguez and Sally See The Elk. Granddaughter Samya Lewis and great grandson Amias Isaiah James.
