Mass of Christian Burial for Nathan Metcalf, 44, of Bullhead will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bullhead. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Family and friends will leave Kesling Funeral Home at 4 PM on Tuesday for a 7 PM prayer service at the church. Nathan passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in Bullhead.
Nathan Gerald Metcalf was born on February 25, 1977, in Ft. Yates, ND, to Nathan Metcalf Sr. and Norma Jean Brown. He was raised by his grandma, Edna Steele, in Bullhead. He also lived with his grandmother on his father’s side for a time. In 1985, with his grandma Edna moved to St. Paul and he attended the Red School House Elementary. While in Minnesota he would take trips and visit his mom in Lake Andes and his uncles in Ft. Thompson. After a few years they moved to Minneapolis before his uncle, Gerald Kills Pretty Enemy brought his back to Mobridge where Edna was living. Eventually they moved back to Bullhead where he has since resided. After Edna’s passing Nathan was able to get his own place.
Nathan was a handy man, working odd jobs. He also worked for land and livestock and was involved with the pow-wow. He attended school in Mobridge, Ft. Yates and worked on his GED in McLaughlin.
Nathan is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Brown, sisters, Candace Village Center, Ella Mae Kills Pretty Enemy, Stephanie Steele, Angelina and Angelita Uzoughbo, Rachel and Salina Ness, brothers, Ambrose Brown, Corey and Jeffrey Ness.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nathan Metcalf Sr., sister, Angel Village Center, maternal grandmother, Edna M. Steele, maternal grandfather, Jerry Brown, niece, Angel Mae Jean Spotted Horse, nephew, Handsome Running Hawk.
