Orville LaPlante, age 77 of Eagle Butte, SD entered the Spirit World Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Avera-St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, SD.
Orville is survived his wife, Barb LaPlante of Eagle Butte, five sons: Dana LaPlante, Derby, KS, William LaPlante, Bismarck, ND, Dakota LaPlante, Minneapolis, MN, Jacob LaPlante, Rapid City, SD, and Winston Fischer, Eagle Butte. Four daughters: Anne LaPlante, Lawrence, KS, Kristy O’Rourke, Porcupine, SD, Lisa Marshall-Velez, Pensacola, FL and Emma LaPlante, Ellsworth, SD. Three brothers, Philip Blue Coat, On The Tree, SD, Leroy LaPlante, Eagle Butte, and Allen LaPlante, Sturgis, SD. Eight sisters, Faye Rousseau, White Horse, SD, Ina Traversie, Carla Blue Coat, Carrie Blue Coat of Eagle Butte, Reba Three Legs, On The Tree, SD, Rita Berkland, Dupree, SD, Edie Knight, Cherry Creek, SD and Laverne Cummings, Sturgis, SD. 14 Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
In compliance with the CDC Covid19 regulations and the CRST Tribal Directives for mortuary care, a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 6, 2020 at the CRST Powwow Grounds, Eagle Butte, with Pastor Mark Richardson and Rol Bradford officiating. Burial will follow at the Eagle Butte Community Cemetery.
