Services for Orville White Eyes, Jr., age 50 of Miller, Missouri will be as follows: Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 6:00PM CST at the River Center Church located at 1105 E Sioux Ave., Pierre, SD. A Wake service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 7:00PM MST at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte, SD. A procession will take place on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 4:00PM MST from the 4-mile junction to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte, SD. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 2 10:00 AM MST at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte, SD with burial to follow in LaPlant, SD. Orville passed away at his home in Miller, Missouri on April 19, 2022. Arrangements have been entrusted with Oster Funeral Home of Eagle Butte in Eagle Butte, SD.
Orville ”Orv” L. White Eyes Jr., age 50, passed away April 19th, 2022 at Miller, MO.
Orville was born June 13, 1971, to Alita Pfiefle (Stands) and Orville White Eyes Sr. at Gettysburg, SD. Orv grew up in Marksville and Swiftbird communities on the Cheyenne River Reservation. He lived in several places throughout the years, Huron, Sioux Falls, Pierre, and his last residence was in Miller, Missouri.
He attended school at Swiftbird Day School, Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School. He received additional training at Kicking Horse Job Corps in Montana for Carpentry and Clearfield Job Corps in Utah for Culinary Arts.
He worked various jobs at numerous places. He was a maintenance technician, a carpenter, and a cowboy. His most recent job was in Missouri, where his carpentry skills were quite evident.
Orv enjoyed working with horses; he would always talk about how he started on the “Ride for Vets” that began in Fort Pierre, SD to Washington D.C.
He met Wendy Jarvis and they have a son together, Chase Michael. He met Nicole Benning and they have a daughter together, Khia Lynn. Orv met Heather Buchanan and they married in 2004, they were later divorced.
He is survived by his children, son Chase Jarvis, daughters Raelynee Marshall and Khia White Eyes and six grandchildren. Mother, Alita Pfiefle, brother Waylon (Tiffany) White Eyes, sisters Gwendolyn Foote and Lillian (Milt) Jefferson. Preceded in death by Maternal grandparents Bella (Meeter) White Eyes, Jacob Stands. Paternal grandparents Louis and Ida (Two Hawk) White Eyes, Uncles Christian “Rocky” Black Bird II, Erbie White Eyes, Vern White Eyes, Amos White Eyes and Silas White Eyes, Aunts, Ansonia Black Bird and Colette White Eyes, cousin Dyan Hawk Eagle, Father Orville White Eyes Sr. and infant sibling Leslie
You have left a hole in many hearts the day you left and words can’t explain the grief left behind. But, we will be comforted knowing that you are welcomed in the arms of your family that have left before you, and you are smiling down, watching over us. We love you forever and always.
