Pat Iversen, age 81, died at home on Tuesday October 5, 2021. Patricia Anna Iversen was born on May 22, 1940, to Samuel & Hilda (Mooney) McAlevy. She was the oldest of three children. She spent her childhood in the Sand Hills of Nebraska near Valentine and in the Fort Pierre area.
On November 4, 1964, she married Frank Iversen. After marriage she moved to the family ranch on the Bad River joined by Jerry, Sammy, and Sherrie. A year later Dana was born, then Diane and Dawn came along to round out the family.
Pat enjoyed the ranching life. She looked forward to branding season to meet with the neighbors and cook a big meal. Pat hosted many family gatherings. She liked sewing, growing plants and other craft projects.
During the 1980’s she worked at Stanley County Schools in the lunchroom. She liked interacting with the kids in the food line and following school activities.
In 2011, Pat and Frank bought their house in Pierre. She resided there with him and their granddaughter Megan until she passed away. Pat was the center of the family, a caregiver, and a confidant. She will be deeply missed.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her children Jerry Jacobs and Sherrie Ertz. She is survived by her husband, Frank Iversen. Sisters, Devera Miller and Sharon Ward. Children, Sam (Diane) Jacobs, Dana (Annis) Iversen, Diane Arhart and Dawn Iversen. Her grandchildren, Yvonne, Cody, and Logan Jacobs, Frank and Sam Jr Jacobs, Justin Ertz, Soren Iversen and Sierra Somero, Megan and Abby Arhart. Her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
