Funeral services for Payton Wientjes, 31 of Mobridge, SD, will be Saturday November 27, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Family Worship Center in Mobridge, SD. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Payton passed away November 19, 2021, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Payton Wilder Sealy Wientjes was born on April 21, 1990 at Bedford, TX. He grew up on his parent’s ranch Near Mound City, SD. He attended school beginning in Selby then on to the Zion Lutheran grade school then to Mobridge Public School graduating in 2008. In August of 2008 Payton entered the US Air Force serving in Security Forces on US Air Force Missile Bases. While in the Air Force, Payton was stationed on different bases including Minot, North Dakota and over seas at Volche Air Force Base in the Netherlanders. While in the Netherlands, Payton took the opportunity to travel and was able to go to Rome, Germany and other areas that interested him which he enjoyed. In 2013, Payton was discharged from the Air Force and returned to Mobridge where he worked with his father on the Ranch until going to work for Precision Under Ground, a company that did technical precision underground boring. Payton enjoyed this work, and was the project supervisor on the crew that bored under the Little Missouri River for the oil pipe line. At the time of his passing Payton was working for CHS River Plains in Selby, SD in the Agronomy Dept. A position he took so that he could be closer to his son Creed, and have more time with him.
On October 9, 2014 Payton’s son, Creed Dwayne, was born. He was a very proud, happy and engaged father in the life of his son. He took every opportunity he could to spend time with Creed. They would often spend time on the ranch helping papa with cattle work riding the four wheelers and horses. Payton shared his sense of adventure with Creed by taking him snowmobiling, off roading on four wheelers, hunting, fishing. He also shared his love of cooking with Creed. His favorite was making tomahawk ribeye’s. Creed would often be found helping his Dad cook. Payton went above and beyond to share the things that he loved to do with his son Creed. Payton enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling, fishing and working cattle on the ranch with his son. He also enjoyed working on engines, modifing them go faster and be louder
Payton is survived by his son Creed, parents Ross and Keri Wientjes, brothers Pearson and Reece (fiancé Cassidy Stratman) , sister Channing Wientjes and half brother and sister Clay and Cass Gilbert. Grandmothers Lillian Wientjes and JoAnn Sealy and a host of aunt’s uncles and cousins.
Payton was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Jim Wientjes and Byford Sealy and his uncle Neil Sealy.
At the time of his death Payton was an organ donor and was able to save the lives of 4 people. His lungs went to a 53-year-old male. His liver to a 38-year-old male. His Left kidney to a 33-year-old female and his right kidney to a 32-year-old male. He is enhancing the lives of countless others through his gifts of tissue donation and his heart was donated to research. The ripple effect his gift of kindness, love, and hope, will reach thousands over time.
