Peggy Ann Holzwarth, 69, of Brookings and formerly of Gettysburg, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Brookings Hospital, Brookings, SD.
A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Gettysburg Cemetery with visitation 1-hour prior at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg.
Peggy Ann Holzwarth was born August 25, 1951 to Arthur William and Anna Marie (Lassle) Holzwarth in Hoven, SD. She lived with her family in Gettysburg, SD before she moved to a home in Minnesota on September 15, 1954 at the age of three. Peggy later moved to the South Dakota Development Center in Redfield, SD, and then she moved to Advance in Brookings, SD, July 1, 1987. She lived happily in Brookings until her passing.
Peggy lived at a few different group homes around Brookings, but her true home was at Yorkshire. She lived in this particular home for 18 years. She had a variety of housemates and staff that she connected with closely over the years. Peggy spent her days working at the sheltered workshop where she retired in 1995. Peggy enjoyed retirement where she chose what she wanted, to have her own meaningful days.
Peggy was someone who was a complete joy to be around. She enjoyed quiet, relaxing activities that included listening to music; especially old country, watching old westerns on the television, and spending time outside in the warmth and sunshine. She had some beautiful flower gardens. These activities enjoyed by herself but also with her Yorkshire family.
Peggy is survived by her brothers: Loren (Bonnie) Holzwarth, Gettysburg and William Holzwarth, Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings: Doris Nathan and James Holzwarth.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Peggy’s arrangements.
