Ray Hartman, 91, of Pierre, passed away August 3, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 9, 2021 Feigum Funeral Home. His service may also be viewed online in the window below:

Ray was born December 17, 1929 west of Gettysburg, South Dakota to Fred and Ethel (Nyhart) Hartman.  He attended school in Gettysburg graduating in Brookings, SD in 1948.  He received a two year degree at SDSU and graduated from the Dunwoody Baking Institution in 1951.

Ray met and married Maxine Glenna on October 23, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Ray and his wife owned and operated bakeries in Dassel, MN, Gettysburg, SD and Pierre, SD until 1968.  He owned and operated The Donut Shop until 2000.  He was a city commissioner from 1988 to 1992 and was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church and the Pierre Senior Center.
Ray is survived by his wife, Maxine; son, Alan J. Hartman; grandson, Alex R. Hartman; and granddaughter Mykaila (Trent) Vogelsong.
