HARROLD, SD – Rick Ufen, 56, of Harrold, SD, died at home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Isburg Funeral Chapel.

Rick was born on March 8, 1969 to Frank Ufen and Roberta (McCarthy) Vaughn in Miller, SD. He grew up in Custer, SD, where he enjoyed nature and the outdoors. He lived in Pierre and Fort Pierre before moving to Harrold with his partner of 25 plus years. Through the years he worked various places, such as McDonalds, Gunderson Transmission and Global Harvest Birdseed. He also enjoyed working on farms and ranches.

Rick had fond memories of jumping off the rocks at Sylvan Lake. He loved fishing and gaming.

Rick is survived by DaLonda Carter, his daughter Natasha Ufen, DaLonda’s children: Nsuaha Branddi Nichols-Turnbough and her husband Quantez, LaShay Robinson and her husband Jonathan, and Henry Blackwell Jr, numerous grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Roberta Vaughn, sisters Margie Nelson, Jenny Ufen and brother Walley Ufen as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his dad and paternal and maternal grandparents.
