PIERRE, SD – Robert “Bob” Junior Hoftiezer, 73, of Pierre, passed away October 1, 2024. A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Feigum Funeral Home. Family will great visitors a half hour prior, from 1:30-2:00pm. Burial will flolow at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Fort Pierre.
Bob was born on August 15, 1951, in Watertown, South Dakota to Robert and Violet (Johnson) Hoftiezer. He spent his formative years in Watertown before his family moved to Fort Pierre in 1964. He graduated from Stanley County High School in 1969 and shortly thereafter joined the Navy. His time in the service saw him valiantly serving in Vietnam, where he earned numerous medals and commendations, showcasing his bravery and commitment to his country.
Once back from the service, Bob married Sandy Spoonemore, and together they welcomed their son, Eric. He later married Linda Sullivan, and their union was blessed with three children: Robbie, Michelle, and Wayne.
Bob pursued his passion for mechanics at Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, honing his skills to become an ASE certified Master Auto Mechanic. His career began at Gold Key Oldsmobile in Rapid City and culminated in a long and respected tenure with Wegner Auto in Pierre. Bob’s work ethic and expertise earned him the trust and recognition of his peers and customers alike.
Beyond his professional life, Bob found joy and camaraderie on the racetracks, where he raced stock cars for many years. His love for the sport and the friendships he cultivated at the track remained a significant part of his life story.
Bob’s legacy continues through those he leaves behind: his son, Eric (Susan), and daughter, Michelle; his cherished granddaughters, Alexis, Emily, and Grace; and great-grandson, Destin Jude. He will also be greatly missed by his brother, Casey (Phyllis) Hoftiezer; sisters, Nancy Roberts and Joy Hoftiezer; brother-in-law, David Titze; he leaves behind nephews Troy Titze (Tina), Heath Hoftiezer, Brandon (Misty) Hoftiezer, Chris (Sarah) Roberts, Derek (Savanna) Roberts, Kirk Roberts (Shelby), Jerad Roberts and Jesse Seaman; nieces Tami (Roger) Klebe, and Brandi (Dave) Kowalczyk along with an extended family of great-nephews and great-nieces and a host of friends. He now reunites with those who preceded him in death: his parents, Robert and Violet; his beloved sons, Robbie and Wayne Hoftiezer; his brother, Jackie Hoftiezer; his sisters, Linda Titze and Judy Neff; and nephew, Jeffery Seaman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Countryside Hospice or Paws Animal Shelter.
