Sharon was born on August 18, 1932 to Perry and Agnes (Pfeifer) Grogan in Hand County South Dakota. She was an only child so was blessed to have her parents undivided attention and was able to sneak away with her mom to watch an occasional movie in Miller. As a child she grew up on a farm north of St. Lawrence in the York Township. She spent her days helping her mother with household things and became very proficient at making pies (which were awesome). She spent many hours enjoying her grandparents in their adventures. She attended the rural grade school where her very close friend and later to be sister-in law, Rosemary introduced Joe, the love of her life of 66 years. After grade school she stayed at the McKown House to attend Miller High School. During high school she participated in many activities to include a cheer leader and the Homecoming Queen, and then graduated in 1950.
After high school she worked at the telephone company until 1953 when she married her childhood friend, Jerome “Joe” Oligmueller. They moved to Seattle, Washington where Joe was serving in the United States Air Force and later as an employee of the Boeing Airplane Company. There they started their family having two sons, Jerome Jr. “Jerry” and Greg. In 1955, Sharon and Joe moved back to the farm, north of Miller, where they had two more sons, Brad and Dan. She worked hard to keep their four boys in line and running a tight ship at home. She cooked for the family and made sure they were well taken care of while they farmed and raised cattle. She helped the boys with 4-H activities and was very involved in St Ann’s Catholic Church.
In 1993, when Joe “retired” they moved to Miller in a home next to Crystal Park. Sharon enjoyed caring for her flowers to make the house beautiful. She was a member of the Modern Matrons and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing cards. Sharon brought everyone whose lives she touched many great memories.
In August of 2019, her husband and life-long partner was called to heaven.
Sharon is survived by four sons: Jerry (Jim) of Redfield, Greg (Sue) of Houston, TX, Brad (Nancy) of Rapid City, and Dan (Suzy) of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; and parents Perry and Agnes Grogan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Ann’s Altar Society.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Sharon’s arrangements.
