PIERRE, SD – Shirley Ann Marley, known affectionately to friends and family as Shirley, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Sioux Falls, SD. Born in Campbell County, SD, on August 14, 1954, to the late Edwin and Louise Fischer, Shirley’s warmth and vivacity left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered throughout her seventy-one years of life.
Shirley’s early years were spent in the loving embrace of her family, and she attended Herreid High School, where she nurtured a young and adventurous spirit. Her journey led her to cross paths with Clifford Bivens, whom she married. Together, they had a son Clifford III. They embarked on a life filled with travel and hard work, setting up grain bins across the southern United States. Although their paths eventually diverged, Shirley’s resilience and independent nature shone through as she embraced new beginnings.
After her divorce, Shirley relocated to Florida, where she joined the Tyson Foods family. It was there that she met Bailey Marley, a meeting that would blossom into love and marriage. The two relocated to Texas, where Shirley found employment in a plastics factory, contributing her skills and dedication to the industry.
Shirley’s life was a testament to her kind and loving nature, which was evident in the way she nurtured her relationships with family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Gary Fischer; two sisters, Nancey Liberty and Carolyn Melcher; and her three cherished grandchildren, Cierra, Austin, and Brittany. Shirley Marley also has 5 great grandchildren their names are Malakye Bivens, Bailey Cook, Ashlynn Williams, Kinsley Williams, and Annalynn Bivens. Her legacy is further cemented by the fond memories shared with her late son, Clifford Bivens III, and her devoted husband, Bailey Marley, who both preceded her in death.
Cierra’s Homage: Mamaw you were my best friend, you meant everything to me and you meant everything to my son. You cut the cord when he was first born and you were the first one to hold him. You made a very big impact in my life. You were there for me all the time. when I was pregnant you moved me out there September 2, 2018 where I had my son there in South Dakota on November 5, 2018. Since the day he was born you stayed by his side and you never left him. You helped me raise him and you helped me with anything and everything I ever needed. You live through me and you will always live through me till the day I die and you will always be my favorite mamaw. I hope you’re looking down on us all and I hope you’re proud and I hope you’re having the time of your life in heaven love, All of us!
