Shirley Gail (Fiddler) was born on June 14th, 1961 in Yankton, SD to Guy and Rosemary (Brownwolf) Fiddler. She spent her early years in White Horse, SD and attended school at White Horse Day School and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School. Shirley then left her senior year and moved to California with her Aunt Lola, where she graduated in 1979. After graduation, she moved to Gilroy, CA where she worked for the USDA. She was so proud that at 18 years of age, she had a job and her own apartment. When her grandmother became ill, Shirley moved back to South Dakota to help care for her.
Shirley met William Campbell in 1984. They married and to this union, a son, William Todd Campbell, Jr. was born. She lived in Mobridge until 1989, then moved back to Eagle Butte. Shirley worked for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for many years, mainly in financial positions, as she had a keen mind with numbers.
In 1993 she met Kevin Bartolotta on a plane to CA. They married and moved to Salinas, CA where her son David and daughter Jessie were born. They moved to Torrington, Connecticut in 1996. A few years later, they welcomed Matthew, who was her baby boy. She was actively involved in all of her kids activities and with their schools. She was always eager to volunteer and help in any way she could. She was always on the go with her kids, chauffeuring them to all their games and horse shows. Her favorite place to take them was Six Flags amusement/water park where she bought season passes every summer. She always made sure her kids were busy, happy, and adventuring.
She became a certified CNA and worked In Belle Fourche until becoming a home health technician for the Boysen & Miller families. She then moved to Rapid City, working at Monument Health Rehab until her passing. She was compassionate about taking care of others. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep & positive way. She touched so many lives with her generosity and devotion to her career.
Shirley was fun-loving, and energetic with a contagious laugh and smile that could light up a room. She was passionate about everything she did in life and the people she loved. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. She always made you feel welcomed and greeted you with open arms and a smile. She loved to cook and could make a meal around a tortilla and salsa, but was best known for her breakfast. Shirley was an avid traveler. Her most memorable trip was to Peru, where she climbed Machu Picchu. She loved the ocean and would spend hours walking the beach looking for shells.
