PIERRE, SD – Sidney M. Blow was born on March 27, 1952, in Pierre, SD, to proud parents Robert and Corretta (Harriott) Blow, Sidney was the eldest among four siblings and a natural leader from his early years. Growing up in the community that he would always call home, Sidney left his mark, graduating from T.F. Riggs High School in 1971 with fond memories and lifelong friends.
After high school, Sidney dedicated himself to service and enlisted in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 3rd class aboard the U.S.S. Brice Canyon. His commitment to his country and the welfare of others was recognized in 2017 when he received honors from the Chinese Government and the People of Taiwan for his aid during a time of conflict. This recognition was a proud moment for Sidney, reflecting his generous spirit and courage.
Sidney had a zest for life that could not be contained. He was an ardent collector of guns, deriving immense pleasure from this hobby that connected him to the history and craftsmanship of each piece. Riding his Harley Davidson Sportster was not just a pastime, but a way for him to feel the freedom of the road and the camaraderie of other riders. Most importantly, Sidney found joy in the time he spent raising his daughter, Jessica, who was his pride and joy.
Living most of his life in Pierre, he chose to spend his remaining days in Sioux Falls, surrounded by the laughter and love of his treasured grandchildren. Even as he faced a long and difficult battle with illness, Sidney maintained his characteristic positivity and bravery, ultimately passing away at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Sidney was predeceased by his grandparents, his parents Robert and Corretta Blow, and his infant sons Shane Michael and Christopher John. His legacy lives on through his devoted daughter Jessica Boone, son-in-law Steven Boone, and cherished grandchildren Lily, Landon, Noah, and Eylee Boone, all of Sioux Falls. His brothers Timothy, Mark (Teresa), and Brad (Jean), along with their children, will hold memories of Sidney close to their hearts, remembering him as a guiding presence in their lives.
