PIERRE, SD – It is with both sadness and hope in the resurrection that we announce the passing of Susan Anne Sizemore, age 78, of Wilmington, NC, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2025. In her final moments, she was surrounded by the love and comfort of her husband and children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10am at Faith Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre, SD.

Known as Susie by those who knew her best, she was born on February 24, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Harvey and Lillian Scharn. She grew up in Sioux Falls and later moved to Pierre, SD, where she met and married Raymond Tobin. They had four children together and raised them in Pierre, where she was actively involved in all things related to her kids. She always said that her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mom. This was evident by the countless hours she spent at sporting events, driving kids to piano and dance lessons, and ensuring we had a strong foundation in Christ. She was blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home mom and when her last child entered school, she began working as a Teacher’s Aide at Washington Elementary for the kindergarten classroom. Later in life, she was blessed with seven grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Enamored by the simple things in life, Grandma Susie never stopped collecting pencils, toys, and books for them to enjoy.

In the fall of 2002, Susie moved to Wilmington, NC, after reconnecting with a friend from her younger years, Howard “Mitchell” Sizemore. Susie and Mitchell were married December 18, 2004, and spent their later years together traveling, sharing a good meal, and enjoying the slower pace of southern life.

Our mom will be remembered for her sweet nature, her strong faith, her love and unwavering commitment to her family, and her uncanny ability to never capture a moment in real life and follow up to “do that again” so she could get a picture.

Susie is survived by her husband of 21 years, Mitchell Sizemore; her kids, Eric Tobin of Piedmont, SD, Ryan (Dani) Tobin of Pierre, SD, Kristin (Shane) Endres of Stallings, NC, and Kelly Tobin of Rapid City, SD; seven grandchildren, Jackson and Elizabeth Endres, Ava and Hudson Tobin, and Bridger, Oliver, and Tucker Tobin, as well as one grandpup, Charlie; and her brother, Mark (Theresa) Scharn of Rapid City, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lillian Scharn.
