Terry Lee Buchholz,75, of Rapid City passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Feigum Funeral Home with inurnment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt.
Terry was born May 13, 1947 to Russell Bryce and Patricia (Williamson) Buchholz. He grew up on the family ranch east of Onida and attended Norfolk rural school for eight years. Terry went on to graduate high school in Onida in 1965 and then attended Black Hills State College to attain his bachelor’s degree in Education. Terry spent many summers in Rapid City, SD with his grandparents, the Williamsons, as his allergies and asthma were not as severe when living there.
Terry taught in rural schools in Sully and Hyde counties including Norfolk. While teaching in Edgemont, SD he met and married the love of his life, Karen McFarland, a science teacher. They had two foreign exchange students, Claudio from Brazil and Wolfgang from Germany. Claudio and Wolfgang brought a lot of fun to their home.
They enjoyed watching Nascar, going to movies and traveling. They lived in Del Rio, Texas for twenty years where they both taught until retirement and moved back to their beloved “Hills”. He enjoyed theater arts, music, and researching family on Ancestry.com. Traveling brought them many adventures, but going to England and attending Broadway shows in New York City were some highlights.
Karen passed away December 28, 2021 of cancer. Terry passed away August 8, 2022 from heart problems.
Terry is survived by his mother Pat and sister Kathy Sprinkel both of Pierre, niece Audra Bourk and her fiancé Jeff Chaput of Langdon, ND, nephew Jess (Sonia) Bourk, great nieces and nephew Avery & Bryce of Highmore, SD and Kia (Brandon) Reiger and their girls of Pierre, along with a host of extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by wife Karen, father Bryce and his grandparents.
