Funeral services for Terry L. St. John, 40, of Crow Creek, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Crow Creek Community Building in Crow Creek, SD with burial in St. Johns Episcopal Cemetery at Crow Creek, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Crow Creek Community Building in Crow Creek, SD.
Terry Lee St. John, Sr. made his journey to the spirit world on April 18, 2022, in Sioux Falls, SD, and he is now forever playing hoops in heavens courts. He was 40 years old.
Terry was born on April 9, 1982, in Chamberlain, SD, to Dean and Jacky St. John. Although the pair would later separate, Terry would prosper and vastly grow his knowledge at Chamberlain public schools and graduate as Valedictorian from Crow Creek High School in 2001. Terry was on the 3.5 academic Club throughout high school, receiving numerous awards for his classes and Plaques for MVP in both football and basketball, also Student of the year. Shortly after high school, Terry moved to Sioux Falls, where he became a dedicated skilled tradesman in drywall finishing. Terry spent many years in Sioux Falls before returning to Crow Creek where he would later become a loving father to two beautiful children.
In his adolescent years, Terry’s adventurous spirit ignited his love for sports playing football and basketball in high school. Terry was on the 3.5 academic Club throughout high school, receiving numerous awards for his classes and Plaques for MVP in both football and basketball, also Student of the year. Terry loved to be able to have a basketball in his hand and his feet on a court. Even when he was not watching his beloved Duke Blue Devils playing on TV, he could be found swimming in the river during the summer, or indoors visiting so many of his loved ones during the cold months. Family was everything to Terry from such a young age.
Terry’s huge personality always brightened everyone’s day no matter who he came across. He had an incredible ability to make any person feel like a friend, and always made sure his family was cared for. No moment spent with Terry was a dull one, he always had a joke or moment to share that would brighten anyone’s day. No matter the task, Terry would put his best effort forward and focus on what truly mattered. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of so many, especially his children.
Blessed and grateful for having shared his life are his beloved children, Terry Lee St. John, Jr., and Aleeyah St. John of Crow Creek, SD; his mother, Jackie Crow, Chamberlain, SD; his aunts, Becky Crow, Crow Creek, SD; Connie (Chuck) Strohm, Sioux Falls, SD; his sisters, Keri (Chris) St. John, Chamberlain, SD; Marlena (Will) Martin, Crow Creek, SD; Shanna (Mandy) Jongeward, Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, James Hislaw, Fort Thompson, SD and Cameron Crow, Crow Creek, SD; niece Justine (Angel) St. John and granddaughter Kolby St. John, and grandmother Elaine St. John. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and forever friends that have were a part of his life.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Dean St. John; brother, Kaylen Crow; aunts, Lisa Crow-Meyer; Debra Crow, Uncles, Justin Crow, Craig Meyer; maternal grandparents Bernice and Dewey Crow and paternal grandfather Alvord St. John.
