Travis Eugene Powell was born to Walter & Bonnie (Thayer) Powell on September 25th, 1980. He was a happy, outgoing, and fearless child and enjoyed playing many sports and games with his siblings and many childhood friends in the neighborhood. Travis was easily entertained and could make a game out of anything. He also loved hunting and fishing with his dad and brother. He was very close with his mother and many considered him a ‘mama’s boy’.
Travis attended Chamberlain High School where he excelled in many sports, including basketball, baseball, football, and track. Travis also enjoyed fishing with his high school friends and was known for being the first one to light a fire, smoke some driftwood, and snag his line in the rocks. He graduated in 1999.
Travis attended college and then joined the US Army and was honorably discharged.
In 2000 he moved to Sioux Falls and sowed his wild oats. On July 25th, 2003 Travis met the love of his life, Jess Constant at Borrowed Buck’s Roadhouse, and they were inseparable every day since. On July 7th, 2007 they were united in marriage. Travis started a career in 2009 with DirecTv as a technician and worked there for 13 years. He loved his job as he got to meet new people every day.
Travis always dreamed of being a father and on August 14th, 2009 Landon Nicholas Walter Powell was born, fulfilling that dream. He loved him from the moment he saw him and began brainwashing him into being a Cowboys fan immediately. On October 1st, 2012 Travis and Jess were blessed with their second son Evan Edwin Powell, who would become his Fortnite buddy. Travis had a very close and special relationship with both of his boys and they were his everything. He told them that he will be waiting for them on the other side.
In 2015 Travis returned home to Chamberlain with his wife and two sons to settle down and raise the family. He was very active in coaching and attending his boys’ various activities. He also looked forward to his Sexy Saturday’s with Jess. Travis always had the loudest laugh in the room, was the LIFE of the party, and brought much joy and laughter to people’s lives. He could talk to anyone about anything and make new friends immediately.
