FT. PIERRE, SD – Triston Sterling, age 14, of Fort Pierre, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply. Born on October 18, 2010, to Beau and Michelle Sterling, Triston brought an unforgettable light and energy into the world from the moment he arrived. He was instantly cherished by his older siblings, Sam and Kylie, who adored their little brother.
Triston was full of life — a true boy at heart who loved football, especially cheering for his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed video games, motorcycles, trucks, and most of all, being outdoors. He was also proud to be involved in Pierre Jr. Shooters, where he learned discipline, focus, and responsibility through shooting sports.
He had a heart as big as his smile and was a loyal, loving cousin. Among his many family connections, none was more special than the bond he shared with his cousin Addison Sterling. The two were inseparable, often mistaken for siblings or even twins, and their friendship was a constant source of joy and laughter. He also shared close bonds with his cousins Keira Harnois and Zoe Harnois, who will miss him dearly.
Triston will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the way he made others feel included and loved. Though his time here was far too short, he touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will never fade.
He is survived by his parents, Beau and Michelle Sterling; siblings Sam and Kylie Sterling; cousins Addison Sterling, Keira Harnois, and Zoe Harnois; along with many other loving cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather John Harnois, grandfather John C. Sterling, and his beloved dog Gemma.
A celebration of Triston’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 25th at the Fort Pierre Community Youth Involved Center. All are welcome to come share memories and honor the incredible boy he was.
A memorial account has been established at Oahe Federal Credit Union in memory of Triston.
Forever loved. Never forgotten.
