EAGLE BUTTE, SD – Vincent Chasing Hawk Sr., 45, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Eagle Butte, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, October 27, 2025, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in Blackfoot Ascension Cemetery. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Bingo Hall with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.
Vincent Curtis Chasing Hawk Sr. was born on April 29, 1980, to Verna Meeter and Curtis Chasing Hawk, in Eagle Butte. He grew up in the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte area and graduated from CEB High School in 1999.
Vincent was an excellent hunter and fisherman who loved sharing his harvests and catches with his family. He first met Joni Bad Warrior, and from this relationship came four children: Caroline, Casey, Vincent Jr., and Curtis.
Later, Vincent met and married Lynn Bear Eagle (Chasing Hawk), and together they were blessed with seven children: Austin, Verna, Diane, Sean, Chase, Mia, and Chris.
Vince enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, always bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went. He loved to spoil the kids around him and could always be counted on for a good laugh, a heartfelt talk, and a judgment-free ear. No matter where life took him, his family was always close to his heart.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Lynn Chasing Hawk; his children: Caroline, Casey, Vincent Jr., Curtis, Austin, Verna, Diane, Sean, Mia, and Chris; sister, Angela Chasing Hawk (Sioux Falls); brothers: Emery Two Hearts Sr. (Sioux Falls), Montgomery Two Hearts (Great Falls, MT), Chad Two Hearts, and Stuart Meeter (Eagle Butte).
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Vincent Chasing Hawk and Diane Eagle Staff; maternal grandparents: James Meeter and Harriet Ducheneaux; mother, Verna Meeter; father, Curtis Chasing Hawk; sister, Michele Two Hearts; and son, Chase Chasing Hawk.
