Wakpa Luta M. Condon, age 32, of Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Cherry Creek, SD, entered the Spirit World on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Indianapolis, IN.
Wakpa Luta Martin Condon was born to Bernadine Ellen Condon in Eagle Butte, SD, on February 17, 1991. Bernadine granted custody of Luta to her brother Reginald (Condon) Kills a Hundred. Reggie and his then-wife Robin brought Luta to Indianapolis at the age of six days, where he joined a family in progress. He gained two new sisters – Heather Mukai and Michelle Rippy, and a new brother, Joseph Hale, through Robin, and a new sister Tallie Condon through Reggie. Within a couple of years, new brothers Joshua LeClaire, Colten Condon, sister Regina Kanuho and her son Kanani Thomas, joined the family as did his cousin Jake Hale.
Luta attended school in Indianapolis where he met Candace Kay Gross. He traveled after he left school, joining his brother Joe Hale in Hawaii for a time. After his brother finished his enlistment, they both returned to Indiana before going back home to South Dakota. A few years later Luta returned to Indiana where he reconnected with Candace. Their friendship blossomed into love, and they married on June 4, 2016, in Indianapolis. The couple’s first son, Wambli, was born on August 22, 2017. The couple expected another son in 2018 but he was sadly stillborn. Son Sungila was born on October 12, 2019. Throughout all those years, Luta held various jobs but later focused on stocking in the grocery industry.
He had a kind heart, a great laugh, and a good sense of humor. Luta enjoyed gaming, skateboarding, fishing, hunting small game, and – beyond all else – his sons.
Luta was preceded in death by his mother Bernadine, brother Alexander, and infant son Mato Cikala. He is survived by his sons Wambli and Sungila of Indianapolis; brothers Nelson Red Bird, Dominic Adam Mestes, Dusty Condon, all of South Dakota, and Tyler Condon of Arizona; sisters Karyl Condon, Kathia Condon, and Tumika Condon, all of South Dakota, and all the siblings with whom he was raised, along with many nieces and nephews in South Dakota, Indiana, Ohio, and Arizona.
