A Prayer Service for Walter Taken Alive II, 52, Little Eagle, SD will be held on Tuesday, August 10 at 7:00 pm at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge, SD. Graveside services will take place at the Elkhorn Cemetery, Little Eagle, SD at 11:00 am CENTRAL TIME on Wednesday.
Walter “Squeak” Taken Alive II was born on June 7, 1969 to Maynard C. Taken Alive and Kathleen V. Walking Elk in Ft. Yates, ND. He lived his early childhood with his parents and later lived with his late uncle and aunt, Walter and Delores Taken Alive who raised him as his own. Walter loved taking walks by the river with his four legged friend, Joose, hiking in the woods, fishing with his sister, Sue, visiting and talking with his older brother, Tony about riding, breaking and taking care of horses for their uncle, Walter.
He also lived spending time with his baby sister, Blossom and nieces, Terra, Kathleen, and Jordyn. He loved his nieces who he cared a lot for and always made him laugh. They will miss their uncle dearly (Kathleen & Jordyn). He loved all his nephews and nieces and spending time with them. He loved going to rodeos and horse races with his uncle Walt and family. Walter loved to hang out with family and friends, doing crosswords and puzzles.
Walter graduated from Ft. Yates. He also attended school in Solen and McLaughlin where he played basketball.
He attended school at United Tribes and went to Upward Bound in 1985 to 1988.
Walter is survived by a son, Joe Skinner, daughter, Kayla Hollow, siblings, Tony Taken Alive of McLaughlin, Blossom Little Eagle (Terry) of McLaughlin, Sueann Taken Alive of Little Eagle
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Kathleen, nephew, Colton “CJ”, grandparents, Jesse Taken Alive Sr. and Margaret Brings Horses, Mark Walking Elk and Margaret Martin, and good buddy, Lenore Spotted Horse.
