No one was injured and no surrounding property was damaged during a tractor fire yesterday afternoon (3:30pm; May 31, 2023) about 15 miles north of Pierre.
Pierre Rural Volunteer Fire Department 1st Assistant Chief Pat Snyder says people nearby quickly grabbed fire extinguishers.
With spring fieldwork and ranch work in full swing, Snyder encourages producers to be sure that they have fire extinguishers and that the extinguishers are still in working order.
Snyder says firefighters were on scene for about 20 minutes.
