The 2018-19 Capital Area United Way fundraising theme is “Raise your hand.”
The campaign co-chairs are Twyla and Dr. Ken Bartholomew. Twyla says the group is hoping to raise over $600-thousand dollars.
Ken says almost all of the money raised locally, stays here.
This year’s goal is $620,211 and board president Tony Farmen says the reason for the 211 is the United Way is helping fund the first year of the South Dakota 2-1-1 Helpline Center in Hughes and Stanley counties.
The 2-1-1 Helpline Center, used in other parts of the state, partners with community organizations to help connect people in need to local resources. Farmen says they plan to have more details in the next few weeks.
