The joint Pierre city-school election will be held June 4.
The Pierre School Board approved the date at last night’s (Mon.) meeting. The Pierre City Commission approved the joint election agreement last week.
The election would normally also include Hughes County, but the county doesn’t have any seats up for election this year.
This year, Blake Barringer and Vona Johnson’s terms on the Pierre City Commission will be up for election while Cari Leidholt and Joan Adam’s terms on the Pierre School Board are up this year.
Leidholt told DRG news and farm she does intend to run for re-election. Adam, who was attending only her second meeting after being appointed to fill out Dr. Paul Turman’s term after he left to take a chancellor position in Nebraska, said she’s undecided– but leaning toward running.
Both agencies have three year terms.
